AboutTowhee

Towhee is an overnight summer program delivered by CDI’s LDMH Services. CDI is the only accredited children’s mental health centre in Canada specializing in the treatment of children, youth and their families who are dealing with mental health issues complicated by learning disabilities (LDMH).

Towhee is designed for children and youth between the ages of 10 and 18 who have a learning disability and experience social, emotional, mental health and/or behavioural problems.

Located in Haliburton, Ontario, Towhee provides participants with an immersive experience where they can learn to express themselves, regulate their emotions, and experience success through adventure-based learning programs complete with canoe tripping, waterfront activities, music, art, a high ropes course and a climbing wall.

For summer 2024, sessions will be two weeks long, and take place over the course of July and August. These sessions are filled based on each participant’s age, maturity and fit with an appropriate cabin group.

At Towhee, we work had to ensure every participant feels accepted and is celebrated for their unique talents. Through our intentionally crafted programs, led by our specially trained staff, we help participants to maximize their social success and enjoy the magic of belonging.
