We provide programs to strengthen children’s development, promote early learning and literacy, and prepare children to be ready for school. We help parents build skills, gain new knowledge and develop confidence in their important role as parent.
Programs. Research. Results.
Our programs are delivered in many community settings close to where children and families live. Many of these are in densely populated, high needs neighbourhoods.
Children’s readiness to learn reflects their early development and is a strong predictor of later school achievement. While Canadian parents are aware of the importance of their role in raising healthy children, many do not have sufficient knowledge about child development, and lack confidence. Our Healthy Child Development services aim to address these gaps.
Our Early Learning Centres engage children in activities that lay the groundwork for developing literacy, social skills and readiness for school using a curriculum based on research and best practice. In a structured environment, children choose from activities including arts, crafts, music, drama, active games and exercise. Research shows that high quality child care provides a positive influence on the development and future potential of children.
