FRC provides opportunities to:
- strengthen parent-child relationships through counselling, parent-child activities and education
- promote the social, cognitive, emotional and physical development of children through play and age-appropriate programming
- further parents’ understanding of child development and the needs of young children
- address issues related to substance use and parenting
- enhance parents’ feeling of competence and confidence in parenting their children
- access health information and resources from partnering with health professionals
- reduce family isolation through peer support and links to community resources and services.
Core services include a parent-child program, a mothers’ support group and a children’s program in a supportive, nurturing and respectful environment. Additional services are provided based on the needs of each family.
Services are provided at no cost to clients. Referrals are accepted from parents directly or other service providers such as Toronto Public Health, child welfare agencies, or addiction treatment services.
