Reaching In ... Reaching Out

In 2001, Child Development Institute in partnership with YMCA of Greater Toronto, University of Guelph, and George Brown College, was awarded a major research grant from Human Resources Development Canada (Child Care Visions).

The project, entitled Reaching In…Reaching Out: Promoting Resiliency in Young Children in Child Care, takes new human development knowledge about resiliency, adapts it for application with pre-school aged children in licensed child care, evaluates the impact of the newly developed strategies, and disseminates the relevant findings and materials to Canadian and International audiences in child care and child development.

Enhancing resiliency has significant promise for long-term outcomes for children. Child Development Institute's Cabbagetown Early Learning Centre serves as one of the pilot project sites, chosen for its cultural and socio-economic diversity and the quality of its programming and staff.
