The Evening of Wonder: what a success!

The Child Development Institute community is still buzzing about the inaugural Evening of Wonder gala that took place at the Artscape Wychwood Barns, on Thursday, November 19th, 2009.  Over 400 guests were in attendance, making for a lively and exciting evening.

The special celebration and fundraising evening raised $400,000 for children’s mental health programs at Child Development Institute, including SNAP® Girls Connection for aggressive girls; Camp Wimodausis for children with severe behavioural problems; and Mothers in Mind and Here to Help for children, and their mothers, who have been traumatized by family violence or sexual abuse.

“The funds raised tonight will go a long way to providing programs that have tangible results,” said Linda Pincott Kitchen, co‐chair of the event and also a Director of CDI. “And the event raised awareness as well as dollars. I think we helped people to understand how CDI brings hope to families who are struggling with children’s mental health problems.” Guests enjoyed a moving video presentation, produced and donated by Holiday Films, that portrayed 100 years of CDI’s community service in Toronto.

This evening would not have been possible without the generosity and effort of so many people.  The event was sponsored by TD Securities Charity Auction, BMO Financial Group, Scotiabank Group, Aastra, Cormark Securities, KPMG, Rogers, Mackenzie Investments, Ernst & Young, Berkley Canada, Knightsbridge, Barrick, Martin Merry Reid, Wildeboer Dellelce, Loyalty One, and HKMB HUB International, as well as our Patron Donors McCarthy Tetrault Foundation, The T.R. Meighen Foundation, Aubrey W. and Marsha  Baillie, Robert & Cindy Blakely, Guy & Margaret Carr-Harris, Brian and Janey Chapman, Judith Hinchman & Patrick Garver, Steven & Ricki Sharpe, David Wex, Tony & Cate Woodward, Richard & Nancy Hamm, Linda Pincott Kitchen & Andrew Diamond, Eleanor & Francis Shen, Christine and Michael McCain, The Honourable Margaret N. McCain and many individual donors and attendees.

From our wonderful event Co-chairs, Eleanor Shen and Linda Pincott Kitchen, and the rest of the Committee, to all of the members of the CDI community who made a donation, purchased a ticket, and invested their time and energy to make this event a success, a big thank you!
